Our style of wedding photography is based on authentic, connection-based storytelling, and we love photographing natural moments. This summer wedding at the barn was the perfect setting for natural photos of the couple on their wedding day.
Wedding Day
Joni and Jon were nothing but smiles as we arrived at Gambrel Barn for their wedding day. Relaxed and full of blissful joy, the typical wedding day nerves we see were nonexistent as they got ready. When we photograph weddings, we split up during the beginning of the day. With each of us there to be with both the bride and the groom, we get a larger variety. We both could see how ready this couple was to get married. With her twin sister and her best friend, Joni was relaxed and video chatting her niece before her first look. The venue had been beautifully decorated, and was the picture of rustic charm.
All of the couple’s family and friends were excited and ready to help them celebrate their big day. Joni’s twin sister had fun pretending to be Joni for a first look and making everyone laugh. When Jon did get to see Joni for the first time, the love and pride in his eyes was unrivaled. He couldn’t help holding and kissing her immediately, and we loved getting to photograph this sweet moment.
Although he had already seen his bride during the first look, tears of happiness could be seen on Jon’s face as he watched his future bride walk down the aisle towards him. A favorite moment from the ceremony was getting to photograph the vows they wrote for each other, and to witness the laughter and tears coming from everyone there.
The Wedding Reception
We love the space at Gambrel Barn in Verona. The outside of the venue features a beautiful ceremony space which we were able to utilize for first look, and tons of fields and natural features perfect for portraits. In addition to the beauty of the exterior, the inside of the barn is perfect for a rustic, glam look for any bride who loves that style. There was so much space for eating, visiting and dancing and the guests had plenty of room to mingle.
True to the theme of the entire day, the wedding reception was laid back and full of love and laughter. We like to let the couple enjoy each other and their guests during the reception. For that reason, we use a documentary style during the reception, and photograph each moment as it occurs. The venue at Gambrel Barn made this even easier for us, as one of us could photograph from the balcony and capture the evening without being in anyone’s way. We loved getting to see Jon & Joni’s first dance, and it was especially fun to witness Jon dancing with his daughter, Sam, while Sam’s boyfriend twirled Joni around the dance floor. The evening was full of belly laughs and love for this couple, as all of their guests were just genuinely happy they found each other.
Jon & Joni, it was wonderful getting to photograph your wedding for you. You are the image of happiness and joy, and proof it is never too late to find the love of your life. We wish you the happiest marriage and life together!
