Our style of wedding photography is based on authentic, connection-based storytelling, and we love photographing natural moments. This wedding was a perfect fit and we were able to photograph loads of fun and intimate moments of the couple and their guests.
The Wedding Day
When we arrived at the private lake estate for Kaitlyn and Dylan’s wedding, we were instantly overwhelmed by the beauty. The view of a calm space of Lake Michigan was the backdrop to their ceremony. In addition to this, they had arranged enough chairs for their closest friends and family for their ceremony. Kaitlyn’s mom was warm and kind, welcoming each guest who arrived and helping them to their seat. Even though the ceremony was small, it was full of love and loads of laughter. Kaitlyn and Dylan love making each other laugh, and you could see that even throughout their ceremony. We loved that even in a serious moment, they were able to grin and radiate joy just by being with each other.
A Lake View
Following the ceremony, we had planned in the timeline to take portraits at the ceremony space, and we are so glad we did! The perfectly manicured, large yard led to a quiet and serene patch of Lake Michigan, and we were able to explore it all for portraits. Even though Kaitlyn and Dylan love to laugh, joke around and have fun, we were able to give them some space to take in and be inspired by the serene beauty around them and capture some sweet, private moments as well. When we photograph couples’ portraits, we love to gently guide the couple into poses that help them feel confident, but also give them activities to do with each other to keep it fun and connective.
The Wedding Reception
Following the wedding reception, we travelled into town in Muskegon, and arrived at Frauenthal Center. While waiting for their guests to arrive, we were able to capture even more photographs of the newlyweds. Because of this, we were able to provide them with a huge variety in their gallery. We included both the lake images and the bustling, downtown images. As a surprise for the newlyweds, Kaitlyn’s family had the Frauenthal Center showase names on their marquee board for all to see. This made an awesome backdrop!
Throughout the evening, the couple was surrounded by love. Their small, intimate gathering for their wedding multiplied for their reception. So many friends and family made it out to celebrate with the bride and groom. Some highlights of their night included Kaitlyn’s dad stand on the table during his toast, a la Dead Poets Society, the sweet first dance shared by the couple, and sheer amount of guests who came simply to give the couple their best wishes.
Kaitlyn and Dylan, you are the epitome of laughter and love. It was a privilege to capture your love story and your wedding day. We hope you spend forever making each other laugh.
