The Wedding Day
Kelli & Austin’s wedding took place on a beautiful Spring day. We started our day as they got ready at Resurrection Life Church in Grandville. We could feel the excitement of both the bride and the groom as they got ready. One of our favorite moments to photograph before their ceremony was them opening gifts and reading notes from each other before they walked down the aisle.
The Wedding Ceremony
Kelli and Austin had already been engaged for six years before their wedding day. Due to a variety of reasons, they were never able to officially get married. After six long years, they were finally able to have a beautiful, intimate ceremony at Resurrection Life Church. It was so sweet and special getting to hear their story. Each person who stood by their side held a special meaning to them, and they were truly surrounded by so much love. Seeing Austin tear up not only as Kelli walked down the aisle, but also as he looked at her throughout the ceremony was one of the sweetest moments for us to capture.
Taking Wedding Day Portraits
Following the ceremony, we travelled to their reception location so we could take some newlywed and bridal party portraits. As anyone who talks to us knows, one of our favorite parts of the wedding day is capturing bridal party and newlywed portraits. We love being able to use those who are closest to our couple as a personal hype squad. These portraits always help everyone relax in front of the camera and have some fun together. Taking these portraits first allows our bride and groom the opportunity to get comfortable and be able to enjoy each other in the moment. For our portraits, we love to pose each person in the most flattering position, then give them a prompt so we can capture them interacting and having fun together. Kelli & Austin’s bridal party had so much fun and we were able to photograph really special moments for them.
The Wedding Reception
We loved getting to photograph Kelli & Austin interacting with their friends and family during their reception. The reception was held at Grand Ravines Lodge in Jenison, and they packed it! There were so many loved ones eager to celebrate and share in their love. Our photography style during receptions is very laid-back compared to the rest of the wedding day. We tend to keep our couples on track and help everyone stick to the timeline throughout the first part of the wedding day until portraits. After portraits, and during the reception, we love to let our couple visit and enjoy each other and their guests during the reception, while we capture it. This space was perfect for eating and visiting, and they were able to dance on the balcony.
