Energetic City Wedding with Pops of Jewel Tones

Aug 10, 2023 | Grand Rapids, Michigan, Wedding

Our wedding photography style is fun and interaction-based. With this in mind, we strive to photograph couples who want to have fun and enjoy their wedding day. This Grand Rapids wedding was a great fit and let us showcase our style! The couple, their bridal party, and all of their wedding guests were playful, fun and full of excitement getting to witness the wedding of Alexandria and Jared.

The Wedding Day

City Church in Rockford created the perfect venue for their ceremony. We loved the circle ceremony and the energy of everyone throughout the wedding day. The bride was surrounded by her family helping her get ready, and we loved getting to witness the faces of her parents and grandparents during their first look. Before the ceremony, Alex’s dad led her in a sweet prayer. We absolutely adored her entire family, and her grandfather had us cracking up the entire day.

Wedding Day Portraits

Anyone who’s worked with us knows that portraits are our favorite part of the day. We love getting to get the bridal party hyped up and excited. As a result, this always helps everyone loosen up in front of the camera, and feel more comfortable being themselves. Alex and Jared’s bridal party did not disappoint. We had a great time celebrating, whooping, and dancing with them as they cheered on their best pals. People walking around nearby could be seen peeking over to see what all the commotion was about, and when we had the couple do our classic dip kiss, their crew erupted as though it was their first kiss ever.

After getting everyone loose and comfortable, we like to whisk away the bride and groom for newlywed portraits for the purpose of allowing our couple some time to themselves. This allows them to get away from the chaos and spend some moments together, enjoying each other on their wedding day. Alex and Jared had no problem goofing around and playing with each other, and we love the gentle moments they shared as well. You can see the love they have for each other in every look.

A Wedding in Two Locations

Most of the weddings we photograph are in one location, from the getting ready to the sparkler exit. This wedding was different from our typical weddings, because we got to travel to a second location. The ceremony was held at City Church, but the reception was downtown. Because we were able to factor in our travel time and include it in our timeline beforehand, having a second location for the reception went smoothly and perfectly. We allowed their guests time to get there, park, and get settled in for the evening while we did portraits. Following portraits, the DJ announced them coming in and the party started! Venue St. George was a fun and unique spot for the reception, and we loved how much space there was for eating visiting, and so much dancing!

Alex & Jared, we’ve loved getting to know you and work with you, and it was amazing getting to photograph your wedding day. In a word, the love you share is epic. We love how you listen to each other with love and respect, and know you will have a wonderful marriage. We wish you the very best in life and can’t wait to work with you again!
