Winter time in Grand Rapids is always cold and snowy, so most couples choose to have their wedding in the summer and fall months. Ashley and Jarrod chose a winter wedding, however, and we were thrilled how cozy, sweet and fun it was. Our style of photography focuses on interactions, and this was a perfect wedding to utilize those skills.
The Wedding Day
The wedding took place on a cold, winter day, but the venue was warm and cozy. As soon as we entered Crossroads Conference Center, we were able to feel the excitement. The venue manager and entire staff were so helpful to everyone who entered their doors. The bridesmaids were with Ashley, pumping her up and were some of the most supportive and encouraging bridesmaids we’ve worked with. It was clear they were there to support Ashley and Jarrod. The groomsmen were so much fun and were such good sports, coming up with hilarious ideas of poses, and helping to keep Jarrod calm and ready.
The Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony space was intimate and sweet. Ashley and Jarrod had collected their closest friends and family, and everyone was excited for them. The ceremony space had a unique purple light backdrop, which was a request of Ashley, and it was such a unique touch. Following the ceremony, the entire bridal party braved the cold weather for some outdoor portraits. This amazing group had so much enthusiasm and excitement, we were able to forget about the cold and have some fun. We love to use the bridal party to build up and bolster the couple. This always helps release tensions, and allows everyone to feel more comfortable in front of the camera. After bridal party, we were able to capture a couple of newlywed portraits before rushing back inside to the warmth.
The Wedding Reception
Following wedding portraits, it was time for the wedding reception. Our style of photography during wedding receptions is a more of a fly-on-the-wall approach. We take charge throughout the beginning of the wedding day to keep everything on the timeline and running smoothly up to the point of portraits. Once reception time begins, we like to give the couple time to enjoy, visit, eat and dance! Ashley and Jarrod were surrounded by such fun people throughout the evening, and we loved watching them and their guests dance the night away!
Ashley and Jarrod, it was such a blast getting to photograph your wedding day. The love you share for each other is so sweet and pure, and we wish you nothing but absolute happiness throughout your marriage and life.
