We were really excited to photograph a wedding at Dogwood in the Grove, a modern luxury wedding venue in St Louis. Our style of wedding photography is based on authentic connection based storytelling, and we were looking forward to using the space in this venue to create some gorgeous wedding photos for our couple.

The Wedding Day
Upon entering “The Grove” in St Louis for Kathy & Gary’s wedding, you can feel the energy of the city. The streets are full and energetic, the adorable shops and restaurants are full, and the Dogwood is bustling with preparations. With its upbeat urban and elegant feel, grand staircase, and separate preparation rooms, The Dogwood in the Grove created the perfect backdrop for Kathy & Gary’s big day. Kathy and Gary were laid back and fun, just wanting to enjoy the presence of each other and their loved ones. We helped them create a timeline for just that. The space had a variety of options for portraits, and the weather was perfect for us to utilize them all.
Wedding Ceremony
We photographed the couple as they exchanged vows in the space with the elegant staircase as a backdrop. The couple chose this space for their wedding ceremony just for the staircase. The room was packed with so many friends and family, who wanted to witness this couple become husband and wife. A highlight of the ceremony was when Kathy & Gary’s small grandson repeated the blessings after the rabbi louder than the entire crowd of guests. We work as a team during the ceremony to get natural moments and also the expressions of guests, and were just as excited as everyone else when Gary smashed the glass and everyone yelled Mazel Tov!
Some of the highlights of the day for us personally were the amazing live painting done by Marty Coulter, who was able to create a beautiful portrait of the two of them that day. The perfect Rhumba performed by Kathy & Gary to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” was a beautiful first dance that they had worked on for months in advance, and the heartfelt speeches from their closest loved ones were both sentimental and hilarious.
The combination of the amazing team at The Dogwood, Heather, their coordinator, the fantastic DJ, and the fun and wonderful guests, this was a wedding for the books. The energy was contagious and had us pumped through the night.
Evening Wedding Reception
Kathy & Gary, the way you look at each other is inspiring. You can see the magnitude of love you have for each other in a single look. The way all of your friends and family have embraced and accepted you as a couple is a true testament to how well you work together. We wish you nothing but the very best in every endeavor, every exotic vacation you take, and every simple moment living life together as husband and wife. Mazel tov!
